Autumn is here....crisp weather, spectacular colors and often new menus including fall harvest
specials at our favorite restaurants. When the sun goes down and the air turns cool, come join us
indoors for some Gemütlichkeit (German...for warm, friendly atmosphere).
SATURDAY, NOVEMBER 8: JACK'S TAVERN (Belmar) - Dinner, Drinks & Music
If you enjoy local taverns with a homey feel, then you will be sure to like Jack's. This was a great discovery
and one of my favorites for casual dining. At first glance it look like just another shore bar, but I found the
food to be very good and the dining room has a cozy feel with a fireplace. In the fall, the specials (often
excellent) include Oktoberfest style options of sauerbraten or veal with spätzle, potato pancakes and red
cabbage. The regular menu has a full range from burgers and hot sandwiches to surf and turf, all

Jacks' also has live music at times and on this date, the Paul Marino band will be playing. I've heard them
a number of times and they play great acoustic music....Simon & Garfunkel, Johnny Cash, the Beatles and

This will be our first try of a flexible event....participate in any portion, as much as you like and each
person will pay their own share. We shall try to keep it simple and uncomplicated, yet offer choices and
you can feel comfortable whatever your dining-out budget may be. These days I know many people who
are spending more carefully - so this will be a way to do that yet still have good food and fun!
7:00 pm: Meet at the bar for optional pre-dinner cocktails and mingling.
We'll put in for a table while we wait.
7:30 pm: Plan to move to a table (it may depend on how busy it is)
I will divide the check, with each person paying only for his/her own orders. The tax and tip
will be equally divided among all. I'll come prepared so this is quick and not awkward.
After dinner....MUSIC. We'll move back to the bar after dinner to enjoy the Paul Marino band.
Interested in music only? No problem! Just meet us at the bar later, around 9pm.
Interested in dinner only? No problem! Arrive by 7:30 pm and depart after we pay the bill.
This is a FLEXIBLE event! Whatever works for you!

Overlooking the Navesink River in Sea Bright, McLoone's is a popular spot as evidenced by the ever-full
parking lot. The atmosphere is step above casual, adding a nice ambiance to a great dining experience,
such as the piano bar which has been voted #1 at the Jersey Shore for years. There will be live music by
the Barbara King Duo on the evening of our event and for the environmentally conscious, McLoone's is
